On 14-15.02.2020, in the Regional Specialist Hospital in Biała Podlaska, training sessions on “HCV and HIV/AIDS” were organised, which were dedicated to primary care doctors and nurses as well as school nurses from the Biała Podlaska city and naighbors ones. The seminars served to increase the knowledge of medical staff (i.e. the first link of coordinated health care for patients) on the prevention, diagnosis, treatment of hepatitis C and AIDS/HIV. Similar training sessions were organized on 20.03.2020 and 02.10.2020 by the Brest Regional Clinical Hospital in Brest for doctors and nurses employed in polyclinics within the Brest Oblast. Participants of these seminars in Poland and Belarus could also learn about the hospital offer of free-of-charge blood screening tests for HCV infection i.e. early diagnosis of hepatitis C and further diagnostics of liver using the equipment for non-invasive liver examination by elastography, purchased for both hospitals, dedicated to residents of the border area within the operation of both hospitals.

Online training sessions on taking care of particularly infectious patients were also organised for doctors and nurses at both Partner hospitals on 24-27.05 and 12-15.07.2021. During the seminars, medical staff of both hospitals shared their knowledge and experience in the field of care provided to infectious patients, with the participation of lecturers specializing in the field of epidemiology and infectious diseases. During the seminars, the medical staff of hospitals in Biała Podlaska and Brest trained under the supervision of lecturers in how to deal with such patients when they appeared in hospitals, and shared their knowledge and experience in the field of diagnostics and further care for an infectious patient. The staff of both hospitals also worked together in the disccusion and elaboration of the oint effective solutions for the admission and further diagnosis and treatment of such patients in both units within the border area. During the lectures of the trainers conducting the training, the medical and nursing staff also had the opportunity to see examples of the use of selected equipment purchased for both Partners under the project in the diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases, including particularly dangerous ones.

In the longer term, the established cooperation will result in further visits by the medical staff in both hospitals made beyond the scope of the project and aimed to improve staff qualifications. It shows that the cooperation established under the project was necessary, has been continued and brings real-life effects.
